About me
I believe that the human brain is wired to solve problems in creative and innovative ways. Give a person access to information, teach them the skills they want to learn, inspire them to take risks, and they will be able to tackle the challenges they want to solve.
I am incredibly fortunate that I was given the opportunity to pursue a career as Marine Ecologist. It gives me the freedom to explore the underwater world answering questions that I am curious and excited about. Hard work, persistence and active search for opportunities on my part helped me get to where I am today, but I would not be here without the people who supported my pursuits and taught me the skills I needed.
As a teacher, I want to support my student’s pursuits and accelerate their journey by teaching them invaluable skills. Next to teaching them the knowledge and skills needed for their careers, I also want to inspire them to think outside the box, to not be afraid to take a leap and to value their non-academic talents.
Climate change and biodiversity loss are the biggest challenges humanity has faced since our existence. They give us the opportunity to show our full innovative and creative potential, fighting for a better future for ourselves and future generations. I am excited to live in such an important time, using the creative problem solving skills I acquired during my career for such monumental causes. I hope that my actions will make a difference and inspire others. With a persistent optimism I want to support people who are demonstrating how ingenuously humans can tackle these enormous challenges, their stories are exhilarating, intoxicating and endlessly motivating. I hope that my support will motivate them to keep fighting on days when the obstacles seem to big to conquer.

Dig in deeper:
Scientist
I am obsessed with processes and interactions in ecosystem.
While states tell us what the ecosystem looks like now, processes and interactions tell us where it is heading! How are the different components of the ecosystem intertwined? Science that serves the community and practitioners is more exciting to me than getting published in high impact journals. As a scientists I want to contribute towards finding solutions for challenges the local community and humanity are facing. |
Educator
My favorite part of teaching is seeing my student's eyes light up.
I love taking them underwater where they can discover what we talked about with their own eyes, ears and hands! |
Climate pirateSome times ask for radical changes in direction. Our past efforts to combat climate change were too small and now we have only a short time left to start actions that are unprecedented in scale.
Which role will you play between 2019 and 2030? Mine is the role of a climate pirate, inspired by the pirates of the golden age! |
